Step into a dynamic contract opportunity supporting students across the western side of Wake County as a dedicated school-based Occupational Therapist. You will collaborate within a year-round academic schedule, providing crucial services to students from elementary through high school. The district uses a workload model, ensuring balanced caseloads that are reassessed monthly to maintain quality of care and manageable responsibilities.

Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

  • Active OT license from the North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy (NCBOT)
  • Post-graduate OT degree (Master’s degree strongly preferred)
  • Direct school-based OT experience is required; North Carolina school experience preferred
  • Solid knowledge of ECATS and IEP documentation procedures
  • Proficiency administering and interpreting standardized assessments commonly used in school-based occupational therapy
  • Familiarity with the Sensory Processing Measure–2 (SPM-2) and Sensory Profile 2
  • Strong ability to conduct motor screenings and OT evaluations directly related to educational programming and state standards
  • Preparedness to obtain an NPI number and register with NC Tracks prior to your start date
  • Successful completion of DCDEE fingerprinting and district-specific background check
  • Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver occupational therapy services within multiple school sites, supporting students’ educational goals
  • Conduct and interpret evaluations and assessments as part of the IEP process
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in compliance with district and state guidelines
  • Collaborate with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement intervention strategies
  • Adapt interventions based on student needs and monitor progress regularly
