As a contract occupational therapist, you’ll collaborate with educators and families to help students build the foundational skills necessary for academic and daily success. The district utilizes a flexible workload model, regularly reassessing assignments to ensure manageable caseloads and a supportive work environment.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Current North Carolina Occupational Therapy license (NCBOT)
  • Post-graduate degree in Occupational Therapy; Master’s preferred
  • Proven experience working in school-based settings (NC school experience highly valued)
  • Strong background in managing IEPs and ECATS documentation
  • Skilled in conducting comprehensive motor screenings and OT evaluations within educational programs
  • Familiar with standardized tools commonly used in school-based OT, including required proficiency in Sensory Processing Measure–2 (SPM-2) and Sensory Profile 2
  • Capacity to interpret and apply assessment results to promote student growth and independence
  • Willingness to complete all district requirements: NPI number, NC Tracks registration, DCDEE fingerprinting, and background check
  • Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and consultative occupational therapy services to students in elementary, middle, and high school
  • Assess and address functional skills to support student participation in school routines and curriculum
  • Document services and progress in alignment with state and district standards
  • Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate on student-focused solutions
  • Remain adaptable as caseloads and assignments are reassessed monthly
