Position Overview

Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to support students within a school district in the Durham, North Carolina area. This full-time contract assignment is an opportunity to help children develop the fine motor, sensory, visual-motor, and functional skills they need to participate successfully in the classroom. The OT will work closely with educators, families, and other related service providers to create practical, student-centered interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Complete occupational therapy evaluations and assessments to identify student needs
  • Develop individualized intervention strategies that support educational and functional goals
  • Provide direct therapy services through individual or small-group sessions
  • Address fine motor, sensory processing, visual-motor, and self-care skills as appropriate
  • Recommend classroom accommodations, adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications
  • Consult with teachers and school staff regarding strategies that support student participation
  • Monitor progress and adjust interventions based on student performance
  • Prepare timely evaluations, progress reports, and other required documentation
  • Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary student planning
  • Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong clinical reasoning and pediatric assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Knowledge of school-based occupational therapy practices
  • Ability to manage documentation and caseload responsibilities efficiently
  • Flexible, creative approach to addressing individual student needs
  • Comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary educational team
  • Licensure & Certification

  • Current North Carolina Occupational Therapist license
  • NBCOT certification required
  • North Carolina school-based licensure or eligibility preferred
  • Ability to satisfy applicable district credentialing and background requirements
  • Education

  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
  • Completion of required clinical education and licensure requirements
  • Experience

  • Pediatric or school-based occupational therapy experience preferred
  • Familiarity with IEPs and educational accommodations is beneficial
  • Qualified new graduates with appropriate credentials are encouraged to apply
