Position Overview

Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a compassionate Occupational Therapist to support students within a Chicago-area school district. This full-time contract opportunity is well suited for a therapist who enjoys working with children and helping them overcome barriers to classroom participation and independence. You will collaborate with educators and other professionals to provide practical, individualized support based on each student's developmental and educational needs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and identify areas requiring intervention
  • Develop individualized treatment approaches aligned with student IEP objectives
  • Provide therapy services across individual, small-group, and classroom environments
  • Support development of fine motor, visual-motor, sensory, and functional skills
  • Consult with teachers regarding classroom strategies and appropriate student accommodations
  • Recommend adaptive equipment and environmental modifications when warranted
  • Collect data and monitor student progress toward established goals
  • Maintain accurate service notes, evaluations, progress reports, and other documentation
  • Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with families and multidisciplinary teams

  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication
  • Ability to translate therapeutic recommendations into classroom-based strategies
  • Strong organization and time-management skills
  • Comfortable working independently while remaining an active member of a school team
  • Patient, adaptable, and committed to student success
  • Qualifications

  • Current Illinois Occupational Therapist license
  • NBCOT certification
  • Appropriate Illinois school-based credential or eligibility
  • Ability to meet applicable district onboarding and background requirements
  • Education

  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
  • Completion of all required clinical education and professional credentialing
  • Experience

  • Pediatric occupational therapy experience preferred
  • Prior school-based experience is helpful but not required
  • Familiarity with IEPs, accommodations, and special education services is beneficial
