Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
  • Current state licensure, or eligibility for licensure, as a COTA
  • Experience within school-based or pediatric settings preferred
  • Understanding of IEPs and ability to follow prescribed therapy goals and intervention plans
  • Strong communication skills for working with students, teachers, and families
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Organizational skills for managing documentation efficiently
  • Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct therapy services to students in group or individual sessions under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist
  • Implement and adapt treatment plans to address fine motor, sensory, and daily living skill needs
  • Participate in team meetings, sharing observations and progress updates with staff and families
  • Collect and maintain accurate documentation as required by school protocols and special education guidelines
  • Support classroom teams with strategies to bolster student participation and engagement
  • Help develop and incorporate assistive devices or modifications as necessary
  • Contribute to a positive, encouraging, and inclusive learning atmosphere
