Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
  • Valid state licensure (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Previous experience in a school or pediatric setting preferred
  • Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and goal setting
  • Effective communication skills for working with students, teachers, and families
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to support Occupational Therapists and other staff
  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students in developing, improving, or restoring functional skills needed for classroom participation
  • Carry out treatment plans as directed by supervising Occupational Therapists
  • Document student progress and collaborate in the development of IEP goals
  • Provide support in creating adaptive strategies and accommodations for diverse student needs
  • Consult and communicate regularly with teachers, staff, and families to ensure cohesive care
