Job Title: School Based Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Location: Norwalk, CT

Job Type: Full-Time, Itinerant 

Caseload: K-12 

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy Assisting or related field.
  • Current certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in CA.
  • Previous experience working with children in a school setting preferred.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the supervising OT in implementing individualized therapy plans and interventions for students.
  • Provide direct occupational therapy services to students, either individually or in small groups, based on their individualized education programs (IEPs).
  • Help students develop skills in areas such as fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, and adaptive techniques.
  • Assist with the assessment process, including conducting screenings and documenting student progress.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to ensure therapy goals are integrated into the students' daily activities and classroom routines.
  • Develop and maintain therapeutic materials and resources to support therapy goals.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of therapy sessions and student progress.
  • Adhere to school policies, professional standards, and relevant regulations and guidelines.
