Job Opportunity: Virtual Sign Language Interpreter (Independent Contractor)

Are you dedicated to supporting deaf and hard-of-hearing students? We are looking for a talented Virtual Sign Language Interpreter to work with schools in Alaska. This independent contractor position offers the flexibility to work from home while making a meaningful impact on students' educational journeys.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Real-Time Interpretation: Deliver precise ASL interpretation for virtual classrooms, enabling students to fully participate in lessons and discussions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with educators and staff to ensure effective communication and understanding among students and peers.
  • Adaptability: Modify interpretation methods based on subject matter and the unique needs of each student.
  • Professionalism: Uphold confidentiality and maintain a high standard of professionalism in all interactions.

    Requirements:

  • Valid certification in ASL interpreting (RID, NAD, or equivalent).
  • Experience in educational environments is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of educational terminology and dynamics.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to varied learning settings.
  • Proficient in using video conferencing platforms.

    Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive hourly pay between $35 and $45, depending on experience.
  • Flexible scheduling to match school hours.
