Blazer Jobs is seeking a dedicated and experienced Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join a school-based team in Lovington, NM. This is a full-time, school-based position where you will work directly with students to help them develop essential motor skills and enhance their daily living abilities. Job Duties & Responsibilities:
As a COTA in this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with the Occupational Therapist to create and implement individualized therapy plans for students.
  • Providing direct therapy services to students, focusing on improving fine motor skills, gross motor skills, and sensory integration.
  • Assisting students in developing functional daily living skills, such as dressing, eating, and mobility.
  • Monitoring and documenting student progress, maintaining accurate records, and communicating results with teachers, parents, and other team members.
  • Participating in Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings, offering input and helping to set goals for students.
  • Working with a multidisciplinary team, including educators and families, to create a supportive environment for students with special needs.
  • Assisting with additional tasks and responsibilities as needed by the school district.

    Requirements:

  • Must be a licensed Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in the state of New Mexico.
  • Experience working with special education students and families is highly preferred.
  • Must meet all local and state regulations for occupational therapy practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a team.
  • A compassionate and patient demeanor, with a commitment to helping students reach their full potential.
