Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) – School-Based

We are looking for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our school-based team! This role offers a unique opportunity to work directly with students, helping them develop the motor, sensory, and functional skills necessary for success in the classroom and daily life. If you are passionate about working with children and enjoy collaborating with a team of educators and therapists, this could be the perfect fit for you.

As a COTA, you will provide direct therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT). Your focus will be on implementing individualized therapy plans, supporting students in improving fine motor skills, handwriting, sensory processing, and self-care abilities. You’ll play an essential role in helping students gain independence and confidence in their learning environments.

Collaboration is a key part of this role. You will work closely with teachers, parents, and school staff to integrate therapy strategies into the classroom and ensure students receive the support they need throughout the school day. You may also assist in the selection and use of adaptive equipment and assistive technology to enhance student participation and accessibility.

Documentation and progress tracking are also important aspects of this position. You will be responsible for monitoring student progress, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with state and federal special education guidelines. Your input may also be needed during IEP meetings to help create and adjust therapy goals for students.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you must have an Associate’s Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program and hold an active COTA license in the state of employment. Experience in pediatric or school-based therapy is preferred, along with a strong understanding of child development, sensory integration, and motor skill development.

We’re looking for someone who is a strong communicator, highly organized, and a creative problem solver. The ability to work well as part of a team and adapt to the changing needs of students is essential.

Why Join Us?

This position offers a competitive salary and benefits. We also provide opportunities for continuing education and professional growth, ensuring you can expand your skills and stay up to date with best practices.

Most importantly, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students. Every day, you’ll be helping children develop the skills they need to succeed, build confidence, and reach their full potential.

This is a 100% on-site position—remote work is not available. If you’re excited about working in a school-based setting and making a difference in students' lives, apply today!
